As many of you know, after working 30 years as a software engineer and taking an early retirement last year, on Jahuary 24th I was blessed with an absolutely precious granddaughter, Emma Kate. After my daughter's six week maternity leave was over, I've been keeping Emma every day while her parents work. What a joy!! I now get to experience the moments I missed out on when I had my daughter and had to return to work after 6 weeks.
My son-in-law's family spends one week every summer at the beach, which means that week I won't have Emma. My husband and I talked about maybe going on a little vacation ourselves, but then I had a marvelous thought --- I've always wanted to take a week-long class at the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, located in northern Georgia. I looked up the classes being offered that week and there were three that I was interested in. My husband said he had no problem if I took a little time off for myself, so I logged in to sign up. During the application process there was a note stating they strongly advised contacting the school first to find out if the class is available. I sent an email asking about my first two choices. Sorry, they're full, they replied, so I asked about my third choice. Also full !
So my dream of spending a week at the Holland School will have to be put on hold for now. Which means my husband is stuck with me after all. Now to figure out where to go :-)
